I believe in the power of music, in the amazing power to connect people at various levels and to break the boundaries between them. I believe it can unite people no matter what nation, race or religion they belong to. Not only do I believe in it, but I know that it is true. I know, because I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it and I’ve been a part of it. I felt that “uniting spirit“ a few years ago, at a concert of Imagine Dragons in Lithuania. People came from all parts of Lithuania, bearing in mind only one thought- the thought that they were going to witness a huge music spectacle, and that they were going to be a part of it.
That night Imagine Dragons lead singer Dan Reynolds said, “I just wanna to say that the reason why we do this, the reason why we come on a road is not just because it’s the greatest album and we love music, but it’s also because we believe in this message that we are sharing, and we believe that music is the only thing that can unite people from all over the world, all the way from Las Vegas here in Lithuania. We are here because music brings up people together from all of the religions, from all different places in the world, languages, sexes, origins, races, none of those things matters, we are all just the same, that’s a beautiful thing.”
Then, it didn’t matter whether you were a Lithuanian or an American. What mattered was the music. It didn’t matter what language you spoke-we all understood each other perfectly. We all shared the same incredible energy accumulated from the lyrics and the music of the band. One hundred thousand people were one body, singing in one voice. With no prejudices, no differences or other unnecessary things that tear people apart, it was the most powerful thing that I have ever felt or seen in my entire life. Since that night I started believing. Believing in the power of music, this I believe.
